TO all high end mixers

Need to ask a question. I record rock pop anyway. I have been mixing and cant seem to understand what makes so much presence and space in good recordings.
LIke big space vioce to sit ontop. Im using a digital mixer roland vmc7200. And a sonar as my Daw. Freind says its the mastering and the epment you have. I think that is bull. i think it might be a eq and reverb placement. any tips?

Fix it in the mastering!!!

muahhh ahhh ahhhhhhhh

It's about making space for that vocal. You have to eq the piss out of it, compress it to hell and back, then eq everything else to there's room for it. Mix with the vocal up first and blend in everything around it.

Use short delays to make it sound bigger, like 10-25ms'ish.

Automation is your friend.

No reverb.

A large voice and a killer mic are also one piece of the puzzle...
