Suggestions - song inspired by emotions

This is one of those songs that was written quickly from emotions. The day before her HS graduation, my daughter realized she may never see some of her friends again. She wrote this song and we recorded it within 30 minutes as a first draft recording- it was never changed. I wouold appreciate any suggestions or recommendations.
She played a Taylor 414C into a Rode NTK. Vocal recorded by Blue Butterfly into RME Multiface, and Samplitude Pro 8.2.
I'm going to set up a recording computer for her at her Sorority house using a Yamaha i88x interface that is on order.

Hey. I like the song and your daughter has a nice voice, I could really feel the song. The mix is good, but it sound a little bit boxy and too dark. unless that the way you wanna go (like a raw vintage sound).....

Adrianex,
Thanks for the feedback. We've been used to recording in a walkin closet up close to the mics to avoid reflected sound problems, but recently we took all the carpet out of our house and put down Brazilian cherry floors. I want to experiment with the high ceiling open living area and get some distance from the mics and pick-up the nice wood sounds from the floors. One problem is the guitar is naturally louder than the voice and when you move back it's easy to get too much guitar. Multitracking and adding the vocals may be a solution.

She has relatives in Smoland in Landsbro. Bernie Pettersson. It did go through a RNP and a RNC. Really Nice Preamp and Really Nice Compressor. I'll try changing the compressor settings.
Thanks,
Chuck

Man it is so nice to hear young people just sing from the heart and not try to sound like someone else.. Don't let anyone try to tell her to sing any different.. Wonderful sound. Don't let her give up!

Thank you Glen,

She is home this week end and your comments were encouraging to her. She just wrote a new song and she will enjoy sharing because of comments like yours. It's funny, but we can all remember the notes and words of encouragement we've had in the past, as well as the criticisms.
I have enjoyed and learned a lot from this group and their honest opinions and insights. I looked up terms like: "sounded dark and boxy" to get an idea of what someone was hearing.
Thanks to all

Have you thought about putting out a CD of her or shopping some of the demos?

Funny you should mention that. She is trying to get a class from Keith Hatschek in recording at the University of the Pacific where she is a music major. Keith was a major engineer on a Neve board in the San Francisco Bay area in the past and he is now setting up a complete studtio at UOP. She is just now showing an interest in the recording process. After she read your suggestion, she just played part of a new song she is working on and I really like it so far.
