| Lives for gear | in my honest opinion- block one sounds like a cheap rip off a 2005 storch track- but hey you could probably sell it to a wannabe pop/rnb singer pau4 is a little cooler, but still kinda corny and lacks melody- I bet you some rapper might really like it though Sorry to be so hard on you but you said you wanted honest opinions! I would think about investing in some new gear and sounds. Now I can tell these tracks have not been mixed yet, but your drums and sounds seem very outdated. Considering you seem to be making primarily contemporary pop/rnb for female vocals, I would consider getting urban fire drums from sonicspecialists. The synths your using are kinda boring, sounds to me like presets from a thin and lackluster vst like the albino or something. I see your trying to incorporate some more syncopated rhythms in your tracks. Something I do sometimes when I hear a production or compositional technique I am not all familiar with, I take apart and replicate it. I would completely remake the drums from a Timbo or Pharrell track, I garantee it will give you a heightened sense of adding percussive elements as well as get you out of a writers block. I can say from doing it myself, all the rhythms they use are simple rhythms that when layered together, either hint at the main melody or hint at a new melody that is never actually played but compliments the track. I know thats really specific but thats just something to consider. Good luck to you, I would keep these tracks around if you come across any artists you think would like them but I wouldn't be investing your time really working on getting finished products out of these. |
