Kinda strange rock band mix

my first post!!!! Tell me how bad this is, the song is way too long so if you want skip up to like 3:30 and go from there. The arrange ment is strange. No Vocals.

I suck at distorted guitar. I dont know what to listen for.

any help would be great!

its good, the drums are really nice and airy and spacious..

its not very bright and clean, like a lot of this hard stuf is , or at least from what i've heard. its got a pretty nice warm sound, which i like. i
has it been mastered ?

what did you record on? sounds cool to me

Thank you! To me it doesnt have the power I would like, thin compared to some stuff the band would like to sound like. The studio I mixed it in doesnt sound near as good on my home stereo or car. But I thought it sounded really good in the studio. I,m not sure on the guitars. I want them bigger but I just havent got them there. Any opinions would be great.
I'm mixing on PT Mix Plus, ITB. Not Mastered. small dead room for everything.

Don't you hate that? Good mixes gotta translate! I used to work at a studio where the owner would put an EQ in the monitoring chain while the band was there and hype the lows and highs to make it "sound better." Asshole.

Listened to the song. I thought there were gonna be samples of dudes talking about aliens or something! (Triad, Faaip de Oiid, or whatever)

I think the snare is too "on top" of the mix. Needs to blend more. That reverb makes it stand out a lot (makes it sound "demo-y"). Sounds like he's hitting those toms like a nancy too. It could just be the way they're mixed, tho.

Something fishy about those clean guitars...phasing? Perhaps that's why you're struggling with tone?

With the way the snare is mixed now, I'd say you could definately bring the guitars out more. That would probably help make them sound "bigger."

hi loud,

sounds not bad to me, for my taste too much reverb on snare (and try a preset with less crashy top). for the guitars all i can say is,if you use compression turn it down to the minimum (lower ratio/ less overall compression) that will make them sound bigger ,not that flat . also try to use less fx on them so they come more upfront. they sound a littlte bit phasy too, so if you use more than one mic per git check phase issues, or use just one mic.

hope that helps

(you want that "isis" sound donīt you?)

The snare, is it a bit to big in low mids ?
I guess there is no vocal "so it stand in for it" maybe ?

Guitars arn't that bad. id like to hear them more than that snare.

I know, the snare is not my cup of tee and it's to loud but thats the way it sounded. Getting good at tuning drums is my goal for the year. Cant count on a drummer to know how. thanks for the advise, I will post a more complete mix soon.
