pop track in progress

Track in progress... the vocal is a scratch, but I wanted to post to see what you folks thought.

You might be surprised when you find out the details of this recording, or you might not, I'd still like to see if I'm way off, or on the right track.

Sounds like there's tempo issues. Might just be the vocals throwing me off, tho. The song is a little slow for me. I do like the atmosphere of it all.

Hey!!

Song its coming up nice... But I think that the Acustic guitar is a little bit off and its not blending right with the song... I agree that the song is a little bit slow...

But I like the song and would like to hear it again, when its done

Best regrads

Nice song and feel. The placement of the vocal is unusual; it's quite thin and very deep into the soundstage. Perhaps this is entirely deliberate. What effect are you after with the voice?

Definately cool stuff going on but:

Guitar and vocals definately too thin.....You might be going for that on purpose, but I think the tone of the singers voice is really beautiful and would sound MUCH better if you gave it a more realistic EQ---if your going for ambiance, put a delay on it, but to the point where the vocal starts to "meld" with the track, not where your actually hearing an echo---If your using Pro tools or somethng like that, you could ride the delay return to perfection, adding more ambiance to desired lines---the trick is to be tasteful, though...subtle.... I would also "A B" your mix with something that sounds like it, so you can get a better scope on what the frequency range should be---if you did that, i think you'd immediately see how high endy it is right now-----sounds really good otherwise!!

Thank you all for your input.

I just got this Vintech X73 pre and for some reason everything is sounding really thin... I'm glad you all mentioned that because I have been a little suspect. Both the acoustic guitar and the vocal went in via MXL V69 and the X73.

I'm going to test the mic on an API pre and see what the deal is.

The vocal is all wrong... mix wise... but that was just a scratch. One take.
She is a very pitchy singer, I failed to mention I am Auto Tuning her.

You are dead on about the guitar, redoing that with a session player.

Thanks again, I'll make sure to post the next version.
