| Gear maniac | A young rock group! My brothers band. they're all 14 years old, and IMO they have some skills. They are a 3-member group. Tell me what you think of my recording job in general...here's the link. http://www.mydocsonline.com/pub/Plat...Brainwaves.mp3

| I think you did a great job on the drums. The vocal track sounds pretty good. The distorted guitar sounds cool. I would kill the reverb across the board. I have to admit, though I like the guitar tone, it sounds very small in comparison with the rest of the mix. It sounds kind of like laying headphones on the floor, and playing guitar through them. That's what I would focus on if I were you. Killing the reverbs, and working on that distorted guitar. Cool song.

| I think the tones are generally pretty good, but the whole thing just kinda sounds lame all put together. I hope that isn't too harsh, it's just what comes to mind when I hear it. The guitars don't have all that much meat to them, the distorted guitar seems too quiet, and has too much gain. Are you by any chance doing the stereo delay "doubling" trick on the guitars? If so, it might help to double track the guitars to make them sound a little bigger. I've recently started just laying down 2-3 tracks of guitar and blending them all together to get a better distorted sound. |
