Arrow New Recording/Mix For Critique

Here is a mix that I am working on (I also did the recording) and I thought I would post it here and see what everyone thinks.

The song is by a great band in Seattle called The Specail Purpose, and the song is called Robotic Camel Jockeys. I will post other tracks from the session as I get rough mixes going for them. Let me know what you think. Any and all feedback it greatly apperciated.

Like the guitar - bass and Keys but the drums sound like they are in the distance..

Snare hits especially, the whole kit could be brought out to the front more while still being in the background...

Good job otherwise..

Thanks for the input. I was having a hard time deciding on that. I did a mix with the drums more present but at the very last second I decided to pull them off a little bit. I will put them back up in the mix and take another listen.

If any one else has imput its much apperciated.

It seems a little right heavy....and the piano and such during the "chorus" needs to come up a bit....it's sitting back too far I think. Also, wouldn't hurt to tighten up the bass a little.

There's some noise in the spaces too..sounds like guitar cab noise.

Overall it's pretty dark..not sure if your going for that kinda thing or not, but wouldn't hurt to add some top end to the mix...or maybe leave it for mastering...whatever.

Thanks for the input Djui5. I will take it all into consideration. Just like the drums I also had the piano up higer and decided to pull it back (should have went with my first instinct). I will try it up again and take another listen. I also agree on the bass and hi end.

So far there is zero compression on the song. The only processing on the mix at all are some filters and a little Rev. on the snare and OHs. I am basically using this mix as starting point to get rolling on the details.

Thanks for all the input and ideas.
