New rock riff

Heres a new track we got down. I did drums and guitar. dont mind the ending, as it was just a scrap outtro. i plan to do a 'lazy' style half-time thing....no vocals yet, either. focus on the drum and lead guitar sounds. lots of little lead riffs that complement the vocal part, which isnt recorded yet. i do believe the lead guitar sound is too loud. how does that snare sit? thanx guys

Well, Here's my thoughts:

Guitars need to come up.

Whats up with the feedback / ride cymbal thing that seems to ring out.

Lead guitar needs to come down or bring other guitars, bass up in mix.

DAmn, there's that feedback sound again... I find it way distracting...

The snare sound seems fine.

I just thing the mix is out of balance..

.. and the ringing feedback like ride cymbal...
You seem to be on the right track.

Yep, I think thats it. It sounds like it's to the left in the speakers while the rest of the kit is panned a bit to the right.
Now, I'm not listening to it on anything fancy, just some decent computer speakers, but it sounds to me like you miked the ride cymbal, sent it through a P.A. and it's just on the verge of feedback. That kind of sound..

Don't take it the wrong way. It just jumped out at me as sounding funky..

I hear what he's talking about. It's like a high pitched ringing. Sounds a lot like feedback to me too. No idea where that could be from. Maybe one of the mics was about to explode! That would be a sight to see! I find it very distracting and irritating too. Very good song though. I really like the tone of the guitars and the vibe of it. Good job!
