| Lives for gear | Undone: or - still waiting for a vocal This tuned was tracked 6 months ago - still wanting a "real" vocal performance from the singer. This is a rough mix without a keeper vocal - I want both that, as well as a better lead sound - I haven't tried re-amping it yet, but am looking for suggestions on getting a better tone more than on the poor performance from the singer! Constructive comments are welcome!

Yeah, I know - I need the "juice", and she can't seem to deliver - I'm about ready to throw in the towel on her - almost a year later, and really - no progress vocally. She needs more than to step out - she needs to learn how to sing... As for the lead gtr. sound - how can I get it better? I'm gonna try reamping it before I mix - I can't seem to get the tone right - it's uneven in different registers, and I want more bottom to it - hoping to reamp it thru this bitchin Bell and Howell projector amp, which is nasty and punchy as hell. Barring that, I'll try the others to get some meaty size, and cut down on the screech frequencies. As much as I try - i can't get the gal to perform vocally, which is what I need the most. Talent will never show through if it can't be performed, and I'm afraid after this coming Tuesday session to retry again, I think we're going to have to settle with what we have (which is a comp of about 80 - yes EIGHTY vocal takes?!) and put it to bed - it's a demo, not an album, yet I always want the best possible performance, but sometimes I have to accept the "possible" is actually "impossible".... regards,
