Some tracks you might like...

Hello everyone.... just want to share a couple tracks, in the works, for my upcommming solo CD. I am doin everything at home on my laptop using Protools LE with the Mbox. I am by no means a PRO or do I claim to know what I am doin but though some of you here might like what I am doin. I have very limited resources (ie access to a big studio or a real drummer) so keep that in mind when you take a listen. Its been a long term dream of mind to have a solo CD out...and I am now nearing completion and getting excited. It will be a 12 song CD and will be guitar oriented. There is more of a laid back feel to alot of the songs. I am not looking to be the next 'hit' on the radio...not at all. Simply the satisfaction of having my own CD is awesome...and to be able to sell enough copies to cover the cost of CD production will be a huge bonus LOL. I know alot here cringe at the idea of programmed drums...but please...its is all I can do, but I honestly think I am getting pretty good results for what I have to work with. Please take a listen and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Here are 2 tracks:
Angel In Ice
Crystal Clear

I heard the first track. And all that came to mind is "why is this guy taking this direction"?!? . I understand your satisfaction of doing your CD, it's a cool feeling.... but my real question is.. why not form a band ? with a singer ?

I ask this.. because in between some of the things i've heard there are some excellent hit friendly parts. You have some great guitar parts that could be used to make hit songs is what i'm trying to say, I don't know if I'm saying this correctly, and obviously this is only a opinion.

Not trying to discourage you on doing your own thing, but tell me some more about yourself and why you decided to go the "instrumental" way?

I heard the second track. Man you have some great taste in your playing. Some awesome riffs both in bass and guitar... really impressive things you came up with. You have that simplicity I wish more guitarists would have. Your "sound" doesn't do you justice.

I really hope you can afford a real studio next time. Congratulations.

Thanks Jose for takin the time to check out the tunes. To tell ya bit bout myself. Been playing for 16 years and did the 'band' thing. Nothing major but we played here n there and had some fun. Bottom line was.. I wanted to take the music to another level (technically) but the musicians I was with weren't the best...not the worst neither. I live in a very small town and musicians (good ones) don't grow on trees. I've always wanted to do an instrumental CD. Honestly when I started this project in the beginning of this year. I though it would be an all out shred fest with stupid insane solos and fast riffs. Had no intention of even touching the acoustic guitar. Now I am glad I did and slowed it down. This is turning out a lot different then I first thought, but I really like where it is has gone. Musically this is a blend of alot of my influences over the years and the end result (to me) is unlike anything I've heard. I am the worst at trying to catagorize my style...maybe someone can help me with that. I truely love writing music and playing guitar but not sure if I could go the extra mile and go pro. I guess I will have to see if that oportunity ever comes up.

I know my sound is not the best but, honestly, for what I have (very limited gear) I like the results. Yes, the ultimate would be to use a real studio with a great drummer......can always dream I guess ;). Maybe this CD will be my 'demo' to something bigger down the road....but if not I won't lose any sleep or quit my day job :D Some people strive for fame before they ever pick up a guitar... I have never been that way. I love playing and when I can, jam with other musicians. My goal would be to have my own semi-pro studio, maybe someday. For now I'll keep saving up to get the CDs made and hopefully, sell enough to cover the cost of making the CDs.

After this project, I will be collaborating with another artist and we will be doing something with a modern rock feel, but with keyboards and looking at getting a female singer, but we'll see how that goes when we get there.

Thanks again.
Scott K.

I understand. After doing music for 12 years or so, and having a few bands.. I found it very hard to be able to find that chemestry with people. Of all the people I played all this time, I've only found that in 2 people. I to decided to go solo. But managed to get a drummer in, a bass player, etc.. to record the album i'm finishing. I'm originaly from Bolivia (south america) and studio time even though it is a sort of home studio, is very cheap down here. And happen to have a engineer/producer friend who is very talented with the low resources and gear.

The feeling I get with your music is not instrumental though. I feel you have songs without a singer, that's the impression I get.. probably because like you said, you didn't go into crazy solo's.

Anyways best of luck, you are a great guitarist. Post some stuff when you do that collaboration with the singer. I would like to hear it.

Thanks again. Maybe I will get lucky and find some talented local musicians and be able to work with them.
