| Too much room ambience. I dont think that will work to well in a mix. Which brings me to that point, which is a pretty big one. It really doesnt matter what the drums sound like in Solo. Many mixing engineers never solo anything, and the ones that do, dont do it very much or for very long. Mostly only to check for offending frequencies masked by other instruments, or to check for phase correlation. So i think you need to really track some guitars and bass, and go from there. Its ALL about how they all sit together. Many great mixes out there in which, if you Solo'd the drums, they'd sound like crap by themselves. Yet when in the context of the mix, they sound incredible. When im mixing and eq'ing, everything is counter dependant on everything else. I eq the bass depending on the kick drum, and vice versa, and so on. Everything has to find its own place, yet mesh together. TK |

| Ya know, I kind of like how they sound. I am with the other poster however. The snare especially will probably never cut it in the mix. I can tell by the way the drummer is playing a little or a lot how the song is going to sound. I don't think it is gonna make it through the wall of traks that will follow. ![]() No worries though, you got a good sound, just maybe not the right sound for the trak. If you want to salvage it you need to sharpen up the snare do something with the kick and turn down the room for the moment. I am just guessing here because I hear a wall of guitar headed your way. If those traks are accompianment for an upright bass and a stellar, cool pianist then disregard my comments. ![]() |
