| Mingus' Opus IV clip--help me jazz guys I had this session yesterday for a group doing an ALS benefit later in the year. They wanted me to record a disc for them to sell at the benefit. It's a jazz trio--upright bass, tenor sax and drums. . . When I was getting sounds up, I realized I had no idea what sounds to achieve. Especially with the upright. Anyway, any comments and suggestions from those with jazz experience are welcome. I'm trying to get the bass to sound "woody" and cut the mud from it. Also wondering if there's too much fret noise. . . They want these tunes mixed without much if any reverb. The level is pretty low, but want to preserve the dynamics without compressing it. . . . Did I do these guys justice? |

| Thanks DaveUK. That's what I started thinking too. I have to take myself away from the rock/pop mindset. Treat it as one instrument. Thanks for feedback. |
