A song called "honey" with a royer sf12 for vox

This is a guide vocal done with one side of a royer sf12 and a hayfever stricken singer.

A rough mix, DIY "el slamo".

The strings are VSL.

Interested in arrangement ideas, vocal parts, mix impressions, anything really.

http://www.lucklion.com/demos/honeymultx.mp3

Its on the large side, hi quality mp3.

Thanks all.

I think the chorus is quite catchy and you have some really nice sounds, but think the singer sounds very bland in her delivery during verse, when there is not much going on around her, partly due to the cheery"pop-iness" of her delivery and partly due to the lyrics. If you could find a way of imparting more drama or mystery or sensuality or just something to her voice or delivery then you might be onto something.

hmm, yes the singer can't stand the guide verses, I think for the exact reasons you mention. Different delivery, more support under the vox in the verse perhaps? thanks.

hey dawkab..i think it's nice work..and nice arrangement with the synth sounds..couple things..

Seems like the synth is a little overpower during the chorus..and the vocals get lost a little..although that could be a good thing...vocals lose their resonation when chorus comes in(tambre)..

I like the arrangement, but some of those stops between the ch, and vs, are a little disney channel'ish IMO...and also during the breakdown...again, IMO. Some aritists like that corny sound effect stuff..I personally dont :)

I dig the outro...reminds me of Orbital...

How old is this chick?

Brian.

hi there,
great song so far, really like the singer, i would concentrate on the drums, the bass drum seems to lack a bit of body, too clicky

cheers

thanks all,

lot of work still to go, I don't think "disney channel" is what we are aiming for , but depressed, morbid shoegazin it aint (not that there is anything wrong with that!
Any ideas on vocal parts? do the first/second ch need harmonies? The singer goes into head voice for the first line, which means it gets lost in the strings a little I think.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

I make lots of differents kinds of music.

For this projects purpose, I would be doing something very wrong if someone with powerchords musical tastes and values liked it AT ALL.

Powerchord thinks this song is "unimaginative and cheesy"

After listening to some of his tracks I can understand why.

http://gearslutz.com/board/showthrea...426#post246426

He seems to values musical ideas that the target audience for my track would find "indulgent and pointless".

I can see both sides of the argument, and for its worth, in my experience, making truly joyful music is much harder than making intense, focused and agressive music.

So piss away mate!

god damn you must hate the blues, rock and roll, jazz, classical and hiphop... I see the only music you can apprechiate would be "joyful" music...like....HILLARY DUFF, JESSE MCARTHY, PAUL VAN DYKE, AVIRAL LAVINE, AND OTHER FAKE CRAP...BECAUSE THATS THE ONLY MUSIC I CAN SEE AS "TRUELY JOYFUL"....I CANT THINK OF ONE GREAT ARTIST THAT ISNT "intense, focused and agressive" EXCEPT FOR THE ONES LISTED ABOVE...HA...AND IF YOU WANNA BE THE NEXT PRODUCER FOR JESSE MCARTHY...THEN WORD UP...YOUR ON YOUR WAY.

This is getting kinda unpractical and unrelated to this forum, so one last go round the ring for me before I start drinking some fine ales..

Thanks for the support and critique dreamaudio. Much appreciated.

Powerchord. My explanation was a little simplistic, my apologies.

I mean songs that express a joy at being alive, or a "lust for life"

This doesn't mean the song or artist isn't "intense, focused or agressive".

However the pursuit of those characteristics as an end in themselves is much easier than using them as a means to an end. I choose the latter over the former.

Some examples of musical "Joy"

One pop artist and song for you...

Stevie Wonder-higher ground.

One Classical artist and work....

Handel's - Messiah

The track I posted here doesn't come close to the above level of genius, and nor is it supposed to, but the intent and core is there. You are just currently incapable of perceiving it.

Happy Holidays mate, and when I'm next in NYC maybe we can meet up and I'll drink you under the table.

oh cool i understand, check out these guys...they are great...really well produced...awesome mic placement...and their songs make me very happy.
http://disney.go.com/music/videos/su...ral/index.html
that song makes me FEEL SO GOOD ITS SO HAPPY!!!!!!
and to you dreamer...yes my screen name is a pun...ah...ha...ha...ha....thats why I have it.....ha...ha...ha...ha.
I think Handel would roll in his christian ass grave...and thats not classical...thats old gosspal...totally different...he didnt write a word of that song its all the good book...lol.... and stevie wonder's higher ground song is also about seeing jesus...and IMO...is one of his most porely writen songs...yes he has ahppy and good songs...thats because the music is imaginitive...unlike modern day popshit thats all made in a box. If you want, come to nyc sometime and i'll take you to see a real music show...because yall folks in shittyville NC, or wherever you live, are ovbiously too absorbed by whats on the disney channel radio station, peace out

I guess powercord is just jealous since his tunes are all mostly crap and poorly mixed and produced. He's probably just venting his frustration.
