"Holdin' On" -added pedal steel & electric guitars

Hey Everyone.....

At the urging of a few, I added a little more ear candy to the tune "Holdin' On"...

Still a "Full Artist" version, however I do have a "pitch" version where I "lose" the band at the beginning & get to the chorus/hook 12 seconds quicker....

The tune changes a tad as it goes from organic Americana to Country/Pop..............Anyways...any thoughts ???

“HOLDIN’ ON”

It’s early in the morning
Another day, another restless night
I sip my cup of coffee
It’s okay, it’s gonna be alright
Sometimes times can get hard
Little things will drive you up a wall
I’m walking on a tightrope
And it’s a long, long way to fall
It’s spiritual suicide
For you to worry through the night

(CHORUS):
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” forever
Hangin’ here on a wing and a prayer
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” whenever
It seems nobody cares

I really need to remember
Where I’m from and how far I’ve come
I fought my share of battles
Some I’ve lost, some I’ve won
This world can be so cold
A bitter pill you try to swallow whole
I act like it doesn’t affect me
But you know, sometimes it slows my roll
Some things will never change
I’ll just ride this tidal wave

(CHORUS):
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” forever
Hangin’ here on a wing and a prayer
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” whenever
It seems nobody cares
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” forever
Hangin’ here at the foot of the cross
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” whenever
It seems all hope is lost

(Musical Bridge)

(CHORUS):
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” forever
Hangin’ here on a wing and a prayer
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” whenever
It seems nobody cares
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” forever
Hangin’ here at the foot of the cross
I keep “HOLDIN’ ON” whenever
It seems all hope is lost
I keep "HOLDIN' ON" forever
I keep "HOLDIN' ON" forever
I keep "HOLDIN' ON" forever
I keep "HOLDIN' ON' whenever.....

I like this song, I've listened to it a few times now and the production aesthetic is great, really suits the material.

The only thing I can offer in terms of critique is lack of harmonic range in the verses in particular. They are quite long sections of the song and I kept feeling like there could be more done with the chord sequences. So perhaps experiment more with your harmonic structures, make the song even better.

Regards

i think its a good song, good energy and a good recording, though i think the lead vocal is lacking some compression. the "keep holdin on" parts could use a couple more db's of gr especially.there's some harsh peaks there.i also think the lead guitar tone in the intro is just a bit to saturated for this genre but thats just a taste thing. later into the song it's so ghosted in it's almost inaudible so didn't really need to be there as it didn't add anything.

but overall

That would change the feel & melody of the tune...if I throw extra chords in there, there goes the melody....I had yo really RESIST extra chords...cause naturally we want to throw in as many chords as we can sneak in...but there is a price to pay

This is kinda one of those tunes where if you leave this chord prog...you really have a second tune...

Thanks for the input though

no problem, glad to be of help..

my comment was re the "production," not the arrangement. the vocal desperately needs some attention.
