Question Rock Song sounding a bit sharp, how can I make it sound 'ear friendly'?

Hey guys,

I did this song's drums with a Roland TD12 and BFD via in one shot, I just need to go clean up the drums midi and some other adjustments but that's the easy part. I recently moved so I'm waiting to connect my electronic set and finalize things. Anyways, on the meantime I'm working on the mix and I can't get it to sound more smooth without loosing character on the vocals or guitars, especially if I take the mids out. How can I make it sound less harsh?

needs some work

This song needs some cleanup.

What are you using as a DAW?

I would say notch it somewhere above 2k...

And play with a click track.

I'm using RME FF800 with Cubase 4. I know it needs some clean up and I will finalize that today.

When I eq the master track to a preset "Rock Master" it takes the harsh part out but it looses a lot of dynamics. Are there any recommendations on doing this?
