Acoustic wyrd folk

This was all recorded on a ZOOM digital 8-track with an AKG C1000S. Any suggestions how to mix it so that it doesn't sound so muddy?

I am thinking about getting more serious with the recording process. Recently, I installed Nuendo on my computer and got a decent sound card. Consequently, I have become addicted to the idea of setting up a decent studio. Although my recording room is also my library, and it is very tiny (9'x10'), I feel that there must be a way...

Any suggestions on the best way to set up a new small time studio with limited funds?

Thanks,
