My second album “Theophony” is released ![]() It contains guitar instrumental music. The style is varied - from rock to blues, from country to chamber music. My main influence is Led Zeppelin and my style originates somewhere there. So I bet – Zep fans will like my music. For the beginning, you can check the album trailer: http://www.calvarychapel.com/nizhny/...08/trailer.mp3 (3min, 3Mb) Also you can listen to 1 min trailers for each song at my myspace profile MySpace.com And for the full tracks streaming check GarageBand.com or MP3.com And you'll find more stuff at my official web-site http://www.olmerk.com If anyone likes it enough to pay (donate) the author for his labor :o) – you can do it at my web-site here using PayPal service. Enjoy!

I listened to the title track and enjoyed it very much. very well arranged, played and recorded. my i ask what your recording setup was for this track? i was especially impressed at how well the the bass held together through computer headphones. i'll have to listen to more later but it's refreshing hearing a tune where the people can actually play.

I’m really glad that you enjoyed! You know - it’s very encouraging to go on :O) Sorry, but I didn’t understand a little bit what you meant saying ‘title track’? Is it first track or track #5 (acoustic composition), which has the same title as the album does - "Theophony"? Check the rest tracks – the album varies in styles. I'll be waiting for more reviews from fresh ears! Thanks!

i listened to the last zep cover tens years gone and it had some very good and some well, meh not so good elements.i think the performance felt a little stiff and not as loose, yet cool, as jimmy page but some of the tones were very good. it was "good" but when you bite off a classic like this, it has to be real good.jimmy was the master of arrangements and layering.unfortunately, it sounds like you're recording all the parts yourself and just overdubbing. it was interesting hearing it in russian did you change the key by any chance? i don't have the original to reference.also you didn't mention what your recording setup is. you're getting some good honest tones that i appreciate. | |

Yes, it’s hard to record all by yourself and overdub it consequently – I lost some bite and drive doing so… Playing (recording) live with band – that’s what I need, but it’s really hard to find musicians in style I prefer nowadays, specially in the place where I live… Ok, concerning recording setup. All instruments accept for guitars and mandolin were VSTi samples. Electric guitars were recorded through my Sovtek MIG-60 amp, which I ran through Weber MASS-100 attenuator and then directly to sound card (no cabinet). In my DAW I emulated cabinet with IRs. As for acoustic guitar and mandolin – I recorded them with pair of AT4040 and Oktava MK-012, hard panned these both tracks to get more of dimension.
