Just finished a pop song recorded a year ago...

And I'm quite pleased with the results. The song has a lot of 80's references productionwise:

Thank you. I play guitar in Toggi's band as well, so this is close to home :-)

you're quite pleased I'm amazed, really nice mix So much space there, perfect stereo image imo. A bit more bass drum attack and this mix might become my reference

nice track and i agree, nice voice.the drum programming however is what prevents me from getting all gushy about the song though.it's blah.

well, the drums are certainly edited to an extent (manually, by ear), and there is an extra snare sample added in the mix to give the real one more bottom, but drum programming... is it that much?

sounds good. I'd back off the guitars
the vocals should be more up front for that
style of song.

I think there is too much compression
but thats just a matter of taste .

good song

All good suggestions guys, thanks a lot.

We were quite easy on the compression in the mix, but I fell in love with how it glued everything together in mastering, and always when we went back, it just sounded less 'like a record'
