| Please critique this bluegrass mix. . . . . . from a punk/alt rock band. This and some other tunes for this band are to is my first to be released that I've tracked and mixed. I'm finding the mixing hard as hell. . . Please give me honest feedback. Honesty, if harsh even, is desired. Looking for comments from those listening in a trusted monitoring environment. The drums are pretty loud, but I thought for this kind of band, louder drums are warranted in this tune. I can't get any more low-end out of the acoustic bass used. Some questions concerning issues I'm having: How are the vocals sitting? Is there decent seperation? Do you hear problems with the overall EQ of the tune--is it a mess? I' m worried this mix is too thin sounding in the lowend? Not trusting my room. Finally, this is a sloppy band, that likes it that way. . . guitars out of tune and I'm not the producer. . . the appended beginning is from a show in which the lead singer was having some issues with his speech. . . and his liquor. . . Thanks in advance |

Hey TroyTempest, Your last comment cracks me up. As for the Aloha, they want that thing in there. Anyway, I really appreciate the feedback. Will look at those issues. The snare has been a problem from day one. That needed to be worked out on the day of tracking. Again, thanks for taking the time to listen and give me some feedback. | |

| from what i hear you did well with what they "gave you" now all they need to do is search out the label's looking for that "make everyone laugh their asses off at the shitty song" style, and ink the deal |

| TroyTempest makes some good points, but he's taking the song way too seriously. Leave the Aloha in. Cut it by 3-5db, but not 10. I've got no problem with the snare at all, myself. I'm listening in the studio through Ultrasones which is plugged into a Coleman M3 which is connected to the Digi 003 and it's all clocked to the Lavry. Sounds good, Palmer. Jasper |
