| Rock Mix Here is a mix I have been working on. It was origionally for a Rock Off Compilation where the bands had 3 hours each to track everything. I took some home and worked on them and just wanted to get some feedback on this one. Thanks. Jim

| Three hours to track? Any restrictions on how long to mix or edit? If not, I would definitely pocket this one. It is too loose and, in some spots, totally off beat. Also, the mix lacks sparkle that comparable songs have. It seems dull and muddy, especially in the vocals. The tracks sound fine for a 3 hour tracking session, but this is one that definitely should be cleaned up in the mix.

| Basically how it goes is for 3 weekends in January every year they hold a high school rock off. Now the first 3 weekends they play friday and saturday night and announce 3 winners each night. Those winners come in the following day and get 3 hours to track everything for their best song. The 4th weekend is the finals and everything is done by that point. So 19(they had a tie one night) bands in just over 3 weeks, recorded mixed and mastered.

| time constraints? screw that....that's NOT how good mixes are made, unless they're specifically LOOKING for a "live" version, which even most them these days have LOTS of post-pro work in studios including cleaning up vox, etc. That would be like Marissa here telling me I could **** her, for 30 seconds....there just wouldnt be enough time!
