Daniel Lanois kinda sound for Staple Singers song? Hi, Any thoughts on this mix? Looking for a swampy Lanois / vintage kind of atmosphere. The staple singers style. It's a gospely traditional. Recorded in on room, in one go, no overdubs so far. The male lead will and can be redone. :) I find it hard to mix this one. Too much reverb, too little. I ended up with a spring on the music. Also I added quite some 12k to get some sharp vocal harmonies. I'm not sure if it's too sharp. Also, the bass level (comes in after 40 seconds)? All feedback and negative and positive opinions are welcome! Mickey

Nice track! I like the vocal sounds a lot. To make it more lanoisy I would either make the reverb darker or substitute with a modulated slap delay with the high frequencies rolled off (so that the delay sounds almost like a reverb). Good luck Santiago

| Very cool track, very good swampy guitars... only thing is the vocals, however brillantly performed, don't seem to belong to the same song. They don't blend with it but sit on top. The challenge would be to integrate everything and keep sufficient definition, which is hard for that style of sound... But a very nice atmosphere, imho. Congrats.

Love this. The whole mix is a little dry for the style, I think, the vox in particular. This contributes to the vocals being a part of another song feeling mentioned earlier, I think. The supporting vocals are a bit hi-fidelity too; not sure they need that forward shimmer. The breakdown starting at 3:12 is wonderful. Fascinating that Amsterdam artists understand this style so well. Very, very nice. John-

Thanks guys... Yeah, I hear it now you mention it. Vocals need to sink in, they are a bit too loud, a bit too much uad neve 12k, a bit more reverb... that might safe my world. :) thanks, Mick

Very good recording and vibe. Kudo's to the players.Only thing that I almost found annoying, was the bgv's (female.) WAY too freekin loud with some sharp transients to boot. Unfortunately, too loud for me to listen to the whole song. But that's an easy fix
