| Gear interested | opinions wanted on mix...! i was hoping i could get some opinions on a mix (one minute clip) i did into a master compressor. i read a post earlier that reccomended trying it, so i did. im still learning. keeping dynamic alive in a mix and trying to avoid massive frequency nodes that destroy one another in the end is proving to be a tough endeavor. and dont let this sway your opinion on mixing into a compressor, i just suck at it. http://www.djixl.com/clipper.mp3 thank you! ian |

| I would back off the threshold a little. My rule is that if my mix peaks above 0 I set threshold for that. Your get some harsh cymbals in the beginning and a tiny bit of mud in the lows. I think you might consider using lighter settings, or a different compressor overall. I think you have a great mix going though. Your highs are a little harsh overall, on the snare too. Are you parallel comping the shit out of the drums? I think I might back of that too. If the main bus compressor is making it harsh, lose it and save it for mastering. Beez |
