Recording quality.

Once again, I beseech you all to opine on the clarity, soundstage, etc of this synth-based ditty I put together the other night. The poor timing of the bass, and my sucky drum playing withstanding, how does the quality of this piece project. Are the "horns in yo' face"??? Is the verb overboard? Thanks in advance. Horney Lee.

Horns and verb are ok I think, but like you say the timing of it all is way off, it's hardly listenable. Quantize everything if you can't play in time, if the timing isn't there, you've got nothing.
The idea is not bad for an intro, you should probably work on what else is going to happen in the piece.

They say timing is everything, dont they? And for good reason. I am trying to find a reason for this happening. I am in a poor listening environment when I track with my monitors that are behind and to the side of me quite a few feet away. Going to see if tracking with headphones might help. Timing problems have really never been in my constitution, so this new monitor recording situation and the resultant reflections and delays might be fooling me. Thanks so much for your observations, Troels. ---Lee

The REALLY off timing almost serves this little 'ditty' though. It's almost like a funny song about being really drunk at some sleazy bar.

Somehow, I think if the timing was good, the song would be just plain cheesy. But all ****ed up, it sounds just 'weird'....

Is this sequenced, or are all the parts played live? If its sequenced, their must be some kind of latency going on.

Parts were played live. The only latency was coming from me. I really was requesting comments on the quality and clarity of the recording itself, but the drunken and cheesy comments are welcome as well. Thanks for listening, Halcyo! --Lee
