hello guys here is my first full song mixed for someone else. The track i'm not 100% sattisfied but a 85-95% i am. The song is in spanish but its a very nice song from a friend of mine. Please take a lisen and let me know your thoughs.

Style is vintage type rock 60's/70's rock.

I will talk later what i use and how it was done. What can i said it was edited and mixed on PT 7.4

Cool rock style.. Guitars sound really good... drums pretty nice, but get buried when the guitars and vocals all come in. You could probably compress the overheads and room a bit (or use a compressor send) on the drums to bring them up a bit.

The background vocals really need to come down.. period.. (this is realy noticable early in the song)... they walk all over the lead vocal and are unintelligible. You could back them down and keep them dry.. perhaps EQ a bit of the mids out of them, maybe pan them differently, too... you'll have to trial and error that to what sounds good.

Really good start!

Actualy no compression on the overheads and the room at all. But on the vocals you just pointed what i was though of it. Its just I got tunnel vision with that. anyway i will post tonite again the latest version i have at home. But i would like more opinions.

I'm not sure all you did, but it's better. Guitar solo is hanging above the mix (2:07-3:16) quite a bit, but it's not wrong or right... just something to be aware of. The guitar tones sound pretty good, so it's just a matter of preference.

I would still do something else with those BGV "Ahhhhs" around 1:15-1:25.. ever try a really nice outboard chorus or the UAD-1 Boss CE-1... really some nice guitar pedals can do this very well... but most software choruses suck... I think a couple of the waves ones work well. Not much experience with those. I'm hearing that you want to keep this mix very dry and driving, so I'm trying to help you along those lines...

Oh, and yeah, sometimes it's tough to get a lot of feedback on your mixes.. I've got one hanging in the forum for the last week and.. well... it's sparse sometimes...

Best to ya...

Rob

Hey Rob thanks for all those words. For sure im trying to have the vocal as dry as posible. The guitar is loud i know that for sure. My biggest problem right now is the bad bad acoustic I have at studio. I will check on your recomendations for those ahhhhh ( the artist love em but i dont like them at all) hahaha anyway he is the one how should like them.. Right know im working on that.

Thanks
kiko
