Metal cover of A Forest Hello, I have been recording a cover band who is playing classic rock songs. This song is A Forest from The Cure. I am posting it because i have trouble making the mix sound good on most hifi systems. I have tried a lot of things but can't make it happen. The most trouble i have with the bass and bassdrum sound. Can you please help me further? Equipment: Drumkit is a cheap majestic kit, doesn't sound really good. Kick -> D112 Snare -> SM57 Tom's -> SM57 OH -> KM184 Bass is played on a fender thru a Hartke 3500A. DI -> DI signal from amplifier MIC -> D112 Both guitars were played thru a Randall RH200 on a RA412XL cabinet. MIC guitar1 -> EV RE20 MIC guitar2 -> SM57 MIC solo -> EV RE20 The singer is singing thru a AKG C2000B. We tried the EV and the shure but he didn't sound good thru it. Everyting is recorded thru the Saffire Pro 26 i/o and then recorded in reaper. The mixing is done in Samplitude Pro 8.5. Please give me critics and advices so i can work on my mixing and tracking skills. http://www.xs4all.nl/~machiela/A Forest1.MP3 Thanks in advance, Mathijs

I'm only listening on laptop speakers at the moment, but the drums sound a little overheady and distant. I like where you are going with it though!

Thank you for your comment. What do you mean with overheady? That it is to much cymbal and ambience?
