Opinions needed

Just wanted to get some feedback on this mix.. any suggestions to make this better?? Almost every track(except drums) went thru an RNP to an HD24XR.. Mixed in Sonar 3.0..Any comments are appreciated.. Thanks!

Honestly:

I think the mix is good.....but I don't like the guitar sound. They sound weak...

There's also a very high noise floor that get's worse during the chorus...
not sure what it's from.

Thanks for the comments djui5.. I agree with you about the gtrs..He played a thru a 5150 and had a very thin sound.. I couldn't even get him to double the track..

As for the noise floor...hhhmmm..I'm scratching my head on that..I'll try and find out what is causing it..I didn't notice it..

Thanks again!

Pretty good in general. I have to agree the guitar sound is kind of strange/different. I would change a few things...

- Pull back on the vocal reverb during the sparse sections of the song (i.e. intro). Guy has a good voice.

- Get the snare sound really cracking! It will cut the mix much better. Kick sounds great BTW.

- Toms sound distant and low in the mix.

Thanks eberrong! I'm gonna do a remix in a few minutes and try your suggestions..Gotta do something about the gtr sound.I tried the copy track and offset timing trick on the gtr.. That may be the problem.

As for the snare..I felt I had too much hi hat in this track and tried eq'ing some of it out and I guess I lost the "crack" there.

BTW: I really like the layout of your website..

Thanks again

Man...that sucks.

Not sure how much different it is..but I tracked a Peavey XXL head that sounded great...through a Marshall 4x12

Yeah.. I personally own a Peavey XXX,..It rips!!I think the sound was more his fault, not the amps..or...maybe it was my fault for not making him eq it differently... But, the band is happy..so I guess thats what matters..
