Three piece band Pre-production mix...your comments / advice

Hello everyone. A few weeks ago two of my friends and I recorded a song for pre-production for our album we'll be releasing next year. I am playing the drums and my friends are playing the keys and bass, respectively.

What are your thoughts on the mix so far? The playing is a little off in parts due to having to play this song in two takes. We we're pressed for time because I was leaving to head back to school so we had to cram in a short period of time.

Anyways, I recorded my kit in my basement back in Ohio. I used a simple 4 microphone setup and recorded tracks into my Presonus Firepod: Two Audio Technica AT3030s for overheads (in a spaced pair), and Audix i5 on snare, and a Shure Beta 52 in the kick.

The keys were DI'd from a Korg Triton Le workstation, and the Bass was both DI'd and recorded with my Beta52, and the two were blended and mixed together.

I do not own a pair of studio monitors as of yet, so I mixed the song on my K240s and I think it turned out fairly well.

Let me know what you guys think!

Hey!

After a quick audition sounds cool. Nice balance etc.

What desk you use or ITB?

Cheers

Everything was mixed in the box using adobe audition 3.0. I actually prefer mixing in the box (though I'd probably get some flak for saying that) because I am able to be as precise as I want with my levels. Doing everything ITB is where the industry seems to be heading (with the rise of consumer audio gear and all).

Agreed.

(BTW You won't get any flak here! I heard some ITB mixes last week that sealed it for me. Yours just kinda confirms.)

Thanks for the reply.
