| A Million Miles Away This is my first project using my new API 3124+ preamps. This is me performing everything. If you can look past the pitchy vocals, I would love to hear some critiques of the recording and mixing. Here's how I recorded it... Vocals - SM57-->API 3124+-->Delta 1010 Guitar 1 (panned left) - Ibanez SZ520QM-->Mesa Rectoverb (Modern channel)-->SM57-->API 3124+-->Delta 1010 Guitar 2 (panned right) - Ibanez SZ520QM-->Mesa Rectoverb (Modern channel)-->SM57-->API 3124+-->Delta 1010 Guitar 3 (panned center) - Ibanez SZ520QM-->Mesa Rectoverb (Vintage channel)-->SM57-->API 3124+-->Delta 1010 Bass - Musicman Stingray 4-->API 3124+ (Hi-Z Input)-->Delta 1010 Drums - MIDI drums from a Roland softsynth run thru the Hi-Z Inputs on the API 3124+

| Lives for gear | Sounds good..might want to high pass the guitars and let more of the bass though....and bring through the kick a little more.... Great work!

| Thanks djui5! Actually the guitars are high passed with a steep slope at about 100 Hz. Maybe I need to go higher? Anyone else???? Lots of listens and no comments... ![]()

| eberrong, Thanks for the song. I recently got to check out some of the API lunchbox stuff, so it's nice to hear a different model. The song sounds good. Like someone said, maybe you could highpass the guitars to clean it up more in the low end (more than what you've already done). Also the cymbals seems like they were a little buried under the other instrumentation. Maybe could try some different methods to bring that out (different compression, reverb). Also, maybe try some kind of counterpoint melody with a guitar (possibly harmonies) or synth. Good luck! |
