After listening to the track I'd say you got the balances right...everything level wise sounds great.

Only think I don't like about it is that you seem to have boosted the high end and it's a too "crispy" to me...

Also hitting some analog gear wouldn't hurt the sound either....

Maybe bring the top end down a tad and hit some analog gear if you can...

I like the song though...and the rhymes are nice. The vocals in the chorus (the one's that start the chorus) could come down a tad...maybe a db...

Where'd you get that sample from?

All in all nice.
I would get the drums more banging.
They are a bit to soft for my taste.

Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated...

As far as Analog Equipment goes... what kind of stuff would u suggest running it through?

The only thing i did there was run the entire track through an Antares Tube plugin to give it more warmth.. but im not so sure it really made a difference.. :)

What can you get your hands on? Sometimes it helps to pass it through something like an analog compressor without effecting the signal with the compressor.

It's not critical...especially if your going to get it mastered. In that case the mastering engineer might have some analog gear that they'll run it through.

It sounds like the tube modeler did something....I almost thought about not saying anything because it almost sounded like it had some analog sound in the chain.....

If your happy with it then leave it.

Actually i can get my hands on some analog gear...

I agree with you too.. it needs a bit more warmth to it.. which is what i plan to do with it... its almost too "clear".

In your opinion, with a little added touch ups, is this in a good state to be sent to mastering already?

Or basically is it all in the ears of the mixer.... as in, if this is the sound you're looking for, then this is how it stays.

I'd say if your happy with it then send it off.....

I think it sounds good save for the "digital" qualities, which like I said could be "fixed" by a mastering engineer with some analog gear which would save you a step. And his analog gear should be of a consideribally "higher end" type that will have a "better" effect on the sound.

If your mastering engineer works all digital then I'd hit it with some gear before shipping it off..

Nice work btw

It's my pleasure. Glad I could be of assistance.

Here's a rough mix I did while tracking my last rock session...

I'll post the full mix when it's done. There's also some pictures
