More Fun With Fruity Loops...

This is piggy-backing on LaLaFav's post of the track he did with Fruity Loops, which I found quite impressive. I've seen pro's kinda sniff at Fruity Loops, but I've heard some really cool stuff done with it.

Case in point: "Day By Day," the following song I'm posting here.

The beats were done by a local DJ / producer named Patrick Parker, who works with Fruity Loops...He played me a CD of beats he had composed with it, and this beat really popped out for some reason...I just felt compelled to write a song to it.

So we recorded the beat into Pro Tools, where I added some orchestration - synthe (MicroKorg), guitar (Strat direct with some plugin voodoo), and a few percussion samples to fill out the dynamics.

Then we brought my resident soul diva Oshia Ky into the studio. She and I collaborated on the lyrics, and then we tracked her vocals. I also have a cameo vocal bit in there somewheres (whiteboy falsetto).

Patrick was present throughout, helping me guide the direction of the track, and was with me in the mixing stage as well, so it was an all-around collaborative effort.

This mp3 is only an excerpt of the entire track, which I posted on my website (because for obvious reasons we don't post the entire songs).

Very nice! It even makes MY ass want to move and that's saying alot because I just don't dance... nope, can't make me. I can get funky on the drums though. I liked your "day by day" falsetto a la Curtis Mayfield.

Fruity loops is the reason why I am transfering my Mac HD3 system to a PC...its simply the best drum machine in the market. period.

I really dig the track too...the feeling is there....the snare could be a bit less harsh in my ears given that its so busy...I feel it though overall...
