OK. I'm in.

This forum is great because I can finally put a sound to a name. Thanks Jules!

This forum is scary because for the first time I'm really paying attention to what MP3 conversion does to my mix. Thanks Jules!

Sheesh.

Anyway: Here's a little tune from a record I produced with one of my favorite bands, The Sutras. http://www.thesutras.com/

Nice work. Great depth.

The only real issue I could point out is that the snare seems to distort during the panned automation parts. Albeit, I dig the timbre of the snare. It could be that it is conflicting with other frequency along the spectrum and resulting in a clustered sound. Come to think of it, it sound like there's some masking going on were only the transient of the snare is revealed.

Great song. I would definately buy this if it were available.

It's available! Buy it! Buy it!
Seriously, they're a great band and there's not a bad song on the record.

There's no panning on the drums; that's two takes of a cocktail kit panned hard. And yup, they're distorted. It's a really cool little standup drumkit I'm glad made it onto the record. Thanks!

Nice work. The track/production reminds me in some ways of the early Fiona Apple w/Jon Brion (?) stuff. A very good thing in my book.

The piano and leslie guitar are nice and fat, and the bells/toy piano fill their space without poking you in the ear like they can! I like the panned synth at the end.

There are times where the hard panned dual kits thing is weird (at the end of the choruses in particular), esp in headphones. Almost sounds like it's gated or something, but it's probably related to the mp3 compression.

I'd want to see them and/or buy the album.
