FWIW, here's the tracking info:

Gretsch maple fusion kit, 20", 14", 16", 14"x6" Gretsch maple snare

Kick - beta 52 inside on 45 degree angle, DRS2, CLM Expounder EQ, scooping a little mid and adding a touch of top, Lucid AD9624

snare - 57, 45 degree angle over rim, DRS2, CLM EQ, highpass around 100hz, scooping 300-350hz, lowpassing at 10k while boosting 15k narrow, Lucid AD9624

toms - Senn 604s, Tascam DM24 preamps, AD, & EQ, scooping some 300-ish and boosting a little presence (2-4k area)

OHs - Oktava mc012s, tascam pres & AD, HPing at 150, scooping out wide from 250-400hz

mono room - soundelux U195 3-4 feet in front, aimed down at kick, tascam pre & AD, no EQ

no compression at all during drum tracking

Lucid AD9624 on all overdubs

Guitars: fender twin reverb for clean, with 57 on the cone and U195 about 18" back, both through DRS2 and Distressors, constantly changing compression based on part, and Urei 546 "trimming the fat"

Hvy gtrs: Dual recto, 57 at 45 degree angle facing edge of speaker, DRS2, Distressor set for 1:1 and Dist 3, and Urei 546 EQ

Bass: Ampeg SVT head, SWR 4x10 and 1x18 cabs. U195 dead center on best-sounding 10", DRS2 and Distressor set at 4:1, moderate attack and release, Dist 3, no EQ. 18" cab mic'd up with my Ampeg 1x15" cab, output into countryman DI and into DRS2, no comp or EQ on tracking (pure sub bottom, when it's consistent).

Vocals: U195 into DRS2, Distressor 6:1, fast attack, release around 4-5, followed my Manley ElOp doing 6-7dB on peaks that Distressor missed, no EQ

Keys: Korg MS2000, into DRS2 DI inputs, and Manley ElOp 3-4dB of reduction all around and as much gaina s possible to warm things up

Mixed on DM24, vocal hitting ElOp again 6-7dB, bass thru Peavey Kosmos for extra 35hz sub, snare through Distressor 4:1 attack 6 release 4, drum buss thru CLM EQ for extra mid scoop and 10k shelf, mono room thru Distressor nuked and blended subtley with rest of kit, M3000 for verb, D2 for vocal and guitar delay

all three of the tunes you posted sound very good. especially like "empty". I've been checking out the dm24 myself. was wondering when you buss some stuff out to go thru analog gear and have other tracks running straight digitally into the board, do you have to mess about with time aligning tracks (esp. with drum sub compression etc) because of additional latency due to da and then ad conversion?

also with all the different digital pieces , (motu, lucid, tascam, masterlink) do you use some kind of master clock or just slave everything of one piece?

keep up the good work...

Thanks driberf...

Haven't had a problem running tracks out of DP via 1224 analog versus 2408 digital into DM24... I can take a snare, run it analog, and keep the rest of the kit digital without any issues. HOWEVER, once everything is up on the console, analog mults are impossible. I can't take the snare channel from the DM24 and mult it to an analog unit and then back into the DM24... that's when I get phase issues due to latency. Any mults have to be done before the signals hit the board.

I clock everything from the Lucid AD9624, and have had no issues. Much more solid than MOTU clock.

Thanks again!
