All The Love in the World - the 1st mix...

Tho it's not "the" finished mix - I have this rough mix from a year ago: the album should be out soon. I AE'd some, and played brass (tuba and trombone) - can give more details, but first to see if this thing uploads...

OK - firstly, the bg voxes have been re-tracked since this mix - guess i should just post the final mix as a comparison...

It sounded great here Jay. The bass was about "max" loud, but nice.
Nice job trakking too.

For a rough mix I really like it and the brass sounds great.

Nice sounding already! Could you fill us up on tracking details?
Is that tape hiss I am hearing?

Damn straight! Tracked to the Studer, mixed on a Trident: his Vox was a KSM-44 thru Hardy M1/1176, the tuba miced with Royer R-121, I think it was an API 312 into ADL comp, the bone was thru a Coles 4038 into Hardy M1, and the ukelele was a combo - KM56 into McCurdy tube pre (absolutely a killer mic pre, and virtually unknown...) and i think a Beyer M160/API - can't recall off the top of my head... Kit was a 5 mic setup - KM184's/Focusrite Blue, Kick 'n snare into Neve 1073's (with a bit of EQ), and room was Coles 4038 into API.

I just got my copy of the master mixes 2 days back - maybe I'll post the final mix (and some others) if anyone cares to hear it...

PS: mix duties go to Bob Hamilton, not myself...

Very cool (coming from an ex tuba player). I'd like to hear a few more tracks. What is this bands purpose/genre?

No purpose, 'cept the guy (ukelele-singer/songwriter) wanted to do his album in the studio here: he heard some of the acts recorded here, and toured with a local gal that convinced him to do his album with us. We had about 10 days to record the album, and it sat, waiting to be mixed for almost a year: I have no idea what genre this falls into - I don't think it's trying to conform to any standard - punk/folk would be my guess, as he did 3 albums with Alex Chilton, but this time the vibe was more "Exile on Main St." with loose, ambling nature, but a deep acoustic groove - not one electric instrument on the album (IIRC)...

I'm thinking of loading up another mp3/different song - check it out if you want to hear more...
