in-the-box house remix This is a bit of my first in-the-box mix. As I'm heading into another remix and thinking about how to improve my isht, would welcome any comments to help focus on my shortcomings (I know there's too much Reason involved in this particular effort, for one thing). Artist: Bah Samba Song: And It's Beautiful (Cielo Remix) Vibe: fairly mellow, smooth house music Peece, T. Tauri

Yo, T, this is dope! That bassline is ill. I think the vocals could be more upfront though. Some compression could help you with that. Personally I find the BF LA2A sounds great on female vocalists. Get her dynamics contained somewhat, then turn her up, cuz she sounds good and the lyrics are cool. Other than that, the mix sounds mad pro. Gonna keep this one on my desktop. There's a DJ in Philly named Lorne who's style is kinda similiar to yours, he's part of the From Philly With Love outfit with Cozmic Cat and Jon Gill.

The vocalist's name BTW is Alice Russell (outta the UK), who in addition to Bah Samba has done some really spanking tracks for a guy who records as Quantic (way better stuff than this mix). Those Quantic tracks just LIVE in my crates, so pretty gassed that I've been able to try and do something with tracks she's sung on. Quote:

You've really created a mood hear. Is that a synth bass? Doesn't matter to me, just curious. Sounds great. Is it mostly synth? Reason? Good job. Jasper

Real nice music but it definately has that PC (computer) sound. Mixing it analogue would help. I'd also swap out the kick for another. Still, nice work.

Absolutely agree about the vocals being more up front, and then when they are up there in the mix, they may benefit from some added air. Can't tell. Bass needs more definition and volume. Musically, I would like to see some more expressive and section-defining percussion work, although this genre does not really demand this per se. Sounds real nice! ---Lee Mcgee
