| Ok, I've been digging around trying to find a copy of this thing since this area of the forum opened up. It probably needs a little back-story, so I'll come out of the closet on what I did back in the mid-90s... It was jingles, folks... jingles. I worked as an engineer with the crew of a Clio-winning ad-music company, doing everything from HotWheels to Coors Light, from big-band to metal in the same day sometimes. It was a great gig, everyone had a lot of fun even when the work was hard, and the variety was stunning. We'd literally be scoring some metal-ish stuff for a Mattel toy in the morning, getting it written, performed, recorded, mixed dubbed and outta there in time for a big-band spot for Dell Computer in the afternoon. Those years in that studio represent some of the best times I've had in a studio.. We worked with some great musicians (you'd be surprised who works quietly in jingles), and had a great time every day. This piece is the result of a cancelled session. We had a crew of outstanding musicians in the studio ready to go, and the ad agency forgot to call and cancel. So, rather than waste the roomful of musicians in a situation like that, we'd often come up with some ridiculous project to do. We tracked this over about a 6-hour span that day--to a fresh reel of 996, and I mixed and edited it the next morning. And so.... Here's Polly Rhythm Presents: "Parrots in the Springtime" (try to envision a "K-tel like" commercial with the scrolling list of songs, and the one you're hearing in yellow) |

| Mindreader | dave I remember the days of back to back jingles well, and I also did some pretty silly stuff back then, but with the Parrots I think you outdid yourself! great! Oh, and the hi hat was too loud in the second bit and the third squalk could have had a little more top etc P.S. I caught the end of 'lots of great musicians in a room for a jingle' session for a couple of years...but I'm afraid that me and a bunch of Akai's ended up 'winning' sorry to say - fun while it lasted though - jingle industry here in the UK is now fubar - what used to me my endless supply of easy money for gear is no more sob |

| Thanks yous guys. ...and Bev, it's fubar here, too, AKAIs notwithstanding. The dot com collapse pretty much killed off a lot of what was once a hot advertising scene in San Francisco... Good fun while it lasted, though. -dave |
