'Baghdad' and 'Top Ten' MP3's

These are two new songs, not sure if they're the final mixes or not. Here's the link:

(link to my audio samples-much better than taking up bandwidth)

4/02/04-We've remixed 'Top Ten' to lower the vocal a bit but these MP3's will probably stay up for a week or two.

Listened to Baghdad - Sounds pretty cool - A bit dense perhaps (could be the encoding).

There's a pretty nasty whine at around 14K or so - Could be a video monitor or something - Getting louder...

Killing me - had to turn it off...

Otherwise, I kinda like it!

[EDIT] I listened again today to make sure I wasn't hearing things last night - Definitely a nasty whine - Comes in for the first time just before the first vocal, but doesn't neccessarily seem attached to the vocal track. Cuts right through my fragile little mind [/EDIT]

Sounds pretty well recorded to me.

Nice mix balance. Depth. I don't see a problem.

Same with Top Ten, except the drums sound kinda weak.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

I wasn't completely happy with the drum sound on 'Top Ten' either but since that was the only thing I didn't engineer I'm heartened by your comments ! At least the drummer was superb (Pete Abbott).

We have in fact done a mix of 'Top Ten' with a slighly lower vocal and I thinkt sits in the track better. Hopefully I'll be able to post that MP3 soon for comparison.

(I bet it's the encoding)

You were right John, 15.868k
We got it fixed right up. Even made it a bit better we think.
Also did a better version of 'Top Ten'.
I'll post both soon.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Kick ass!

Figure out what was causing it?

It turned out to not be the encoding.

There were some crazy peaks up high that I suspect were probably caused by the crazy, simulated 'bomb' effect sounds coming out of the electric guitars. It wasn't as much what we could hear as what we could see on the analyzer.

Glad we could catch it though. Good call.
