FUNK

Allright Fellas.

This is a real rough draft kind of thing that I kind of threw together before I got my last wave of equipment and still had time to record my own stuff.

It`s got me on all the instruments. (you`ll have to bear with the drums a bit sorry)

Unfortunately It was compressed and reverbed in the box before I got any of the outboard stuff I have now. (Fatso would have been especially usefull.)

But hopefully you`ll get the gist of this Herbie Hancock inspired funk and throw me a bone.

Not sure I would call this "funk" but that's irrelavent.

The dirty rhythm guitar on the right channel is overpowering the entire mix. There's just no dynamics. Why don't you try muting it while the other instruments take their solos? You also might want to chop it up in places.

Also, the mix is REALLY right-side heavy.

That loud rhythm guitar has got to go.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Curve.

I agree about the guitar.

I recorded it in my little control room for some reason instead of out in the live room and it`s definately a little too distorted and just generally trashy sounding compared to some other tones I`ve gotten.

It is a little loud compared to the other instruments also which just enhances it`s overall trashiness.

It`s kind of supposed to stay steady with the Bass while the other instruments come in and out so I couldn`t see actually muting it.
It`s actually a pretty cool guitar part under the grit and I`m thinking about rerecording it cleaner and just mixing it in better.

Like I say this is a rough thing I just happened to have handy on MP3 and I was anxious to show you guys some music.

I may post an improved version in a couple weeks with my analog setup and a better guitar sound.
(and hopefully than it will indeed be worthy of the heading FUNK)
