Bassist skill demo

This is a track from a bassist's skill demo I recorded a few weeks ago.

It was recorded with the following equipment:

Tracking:
Yamaha TRB-6P
TAB-Funkenwerk DI
Crane Song Trakker in Hard Knee, 1-3 db reduction, fastest attack, release
GML 8200 dropping a 1-3 db around 3k or so to cut down on the slapping assault
Lucid 8824

"Mixing":
Crane Song Trakker in Hard Knee, same settings, 1-3 more db gain reduction
Distressor #1 in 10:1, 2attack, 3release, around 3 more db gain reduction, 2nd distortion mode
GML 8200 cutting around 18K in shelf 3db to cut out hiss from bass, boost a few db at various tonally happy frequencies

He wanted an average listener friendly track so that's what all the limiting and compression is for; louder overall level so the popping/slapping wouldn't tear holes in people's eardrums.

I think it ended up sounding pretty smashed, but it's also pretty loud and the quiet parts aren't that quiet.
