(Very) early pre-production. Brazilian "?accoustic-industrial?" rock

(My post is long and boring. The short version is that I´m looking for people that might be interested in helping me produce a new artist. He´s poor and suffers from renal insuficiency - actually renal failure, as he´s been on dyalisis for the last 7 months).

---------------------------------------------------------------

I have been running a home/pseudo-project studio for a few months. Mainly, I do demos for local bands. Earlier this week, I have been approached by a sort of interesting singer/songwriter, who brought some demos he did in his office PC, late at night.

His little office demo - part of which is the little mp3 file attached to this message - sort of impressed me, not by the audio qualtiy or anything like that, but by the fact that this dude actually seems to have some talent and some kind of vision concerning where he does want to take his music.

Apart form the out of tune (really!) "amblitubed" accoustic gtrs, the extreme compression, the general absence of instrumentation and good tones, the delays/reverbs all over the place, the cliches, plus all other sort of sonic and artistic problems you could pinpoint, this demo shows (to my ears) that the dude can actually sing , that he has (I believe) an artistic vision and soul. He even automated pans, efx sends and did all sorts of little "mixing" gimmicks one could do at the helm of a Pentium III. :)

I believe this sort of material may not be very original - it sort of reminds me, at times, of the band Filter - yet, I believe something valid can be done/extracted out of his music, at least at a local level. Remember - I´m talking about Brazil.

Anyways, I agreed to work with him for free.

If any of you talented people out there are willing to help to capture/sculpt his songs in your spare time, I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe we could arrange some sort of international cooperation deal or something.

I have access to good gear, as well as to good musicians.

If none of you are willing to collaborate, please feel free free and invited to point me into some directions regarding where to take this sort of music.

Sorry if I wasted your time.

Mauricio from Brazil.
