well, i'm no mixing or mastering genius, but here's what I heard:

the drums sound like they come from a tiny foam-padded box. needs more stick hi end definition on hats and especially rides. maybe drums are over-compressed?

lead guitar could probably be hotter.... boost some hi's, pan a little closer to center..... it would really give some energy to the middle of the song

piano sounds pretty good throughout

good kick and tom sounds.

overall just a little dark

I'm not claiming to have expert ears or give you any strong advice, just offering my opinion on what I heard out of my speakers at home.

Good luck

If that's rly your firt mix... great job! ...

And yes... i have to agree with tylaj04, the drums are overcompressed... the kick is ruining the whole image...

But great job!

The song is sweet, tho..

learn to live without so much compression. use your eq. ears are a better tool than compression. your song sounds crushed to me but is a very good first mix. ditto to everything else said too.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. Tylaj, your take on the drums was spot on, as they were recorded in a tiny foam covered room. This was just an extra project for me at school, and the room we have isn't the greatest. Just last week I tracked drums for our new album to tape in an amazing room and i must say that the difference in sound is MIND BLOWING! I cant wait to start recording everything else!
Cheers

Cool tune. Possibly bring down the low harmony vocals a bit on the verses. Overall a touch muddy to me... mastering should clean it up nicely...

Yep... As soon as I heard it I went OVERCOMPRESSED!!! But very, very nice for a first mix. But the drums kind of make me feel confused(the compression) it's like a beating heart, fix that up and it'll be great. NICE!
