Rock mix (Steven Slate Drums)

This is my first full mix of this. The singing is pretty off, do you guys think Melodyne can save it (just got Melodyne, my plan was to really hone my vocal tuning chops with this project but I'm afraid its too much)? Also boosted too much 180hz or so on the bass. Would really appreciate your guys' feedback and suggestions! Snare, kick, toms, all replaced 100% with Steven Slate drums via Drumagog. OH's shelved pretty high and there are left and right room tracks really low that are adding a little depth.

Thoughts,

Definately recut the vocals and take your time. Very pitchy as you described. Vocal is low overall. I wouldn't pan the
toms so hard, try to make the kit seem more together. Not bad at all for a first round but really work on those vocals.
Guitars need more edge and thickness. Hope that helps.

One would think that a more organic and raunchy sound would fit the drums better BUT listening to this mix, the drums give it more of that NEW AGE sound and I actually thought they added a bit more excitement to the soung. I thought it was a great mix. Having said that, play around with one or two more kick/snare samp combos, I'd be interested to hear what they do to the song.

Guitars and drums are nice.

The thing that stands out is the vocals --- it needs to be retracked - period.

Would Melodine help? Sure, but you have quite a few harmonically weak notes that are the ones that need pitch help also.

1) long term solution: take lessons from a good teacher you respect. You will get your sound down faster and with better results than if you take it alone. A coach is a great thing.

2) Short term solution: use a piano or guitar (not in the record path) and play the melody as you track. It will help you stay on pitch. Can you sing back two or three notes back on pitch from an instrument? Yes, you can... so you just need a little help from an instrument stay as close as you can on.

You might have to go through 100 tracks (it's how I used to practice!) the get the track sounding good.

THEN use Melodine..... gold in equals even MORE gold out.
