After reading some warm, helpful suggestions in my previous thread, I've lightened up on the limiting and such.

Welcome to Rock and Roll Gross Anatomy 451. As you can see we have our subject laid out on the table in preparation for our examination.

The first thing that you will notice is that the exterior is in rough shape. There is a general wash of sound covering the entire body of work which renders close examination of the subject difficult. While everything is where it should be and well constructed we will need to delve further to overcome the poor recording quality.

Let's open 'er up.

Oooh look at all the guts! As soon as we cut, we're confronted with a palpable energy from all corners. you may notice the vocal chords are especially well-developed in the full throated singer. Monotone but.... Lets get back to class.. Furthermore, muscular guitar lines are present throughout the body of both these works.

Slutz!!!! err... I mean Students! Gather round; you don't see this very often. This is the very rare guitar solo of the Neiluss Youngian variety. You can identify it by its sound and ability to convey an enormous amount of feel with a limited number of notes. Uhhh...

Ultimately, we're left puzzling over how such rough exterior characteristics can harbor such supple meat that is ROCK and ROLL. To answer this question we will need to continue with our examination. Ah, yes, here it is.
The failure of todays Music society, is that we are more concerned with how others view us, rather than what we are accomplishing by writing notes of grandeur.
Myspace is the perfect example and for that matter American Idol...

Not everyone can be famous, sell a cd, or even get up in front of the audience and play the notes....
Instead, lets all just post in on the internet... That way the chuckles in back of the class room wont be heard...

BY GOD... DISTANT LEARNING DOESNT WORK any more than posting music on the internet will...

Dirty To You is a great track. I think the mix could use a little more dynamic, though. It sounds like it opens up and you get all or nothing all the way through. The groove is outstanding though and it sounds like you captured a good performance. I think the vox are solid; the harmonies are well placed. This is one of those songs that I really wish I could get my hands (and hard drives) on a full Pro Tools session to try my own mix and see what I would do differently with the wealth of instruments you have available.

They keyboard work is fantastic. I am a novice keyboard player at best and lay down tracks when necessary, so my hat goes off to you.

Where's the middle? The center of the mix? Cool song and good production but the middle has been sucked out with a shop vac. Needs waaay more punch and center content i.e. kick, snare, bass ect... Also compression overkill is what I'm hearing overall.

Still like eventhough.

Thanks very much for the kind words!

Drums and bass (as well as all other keys) are actually me playing the Roland XV-5080's stock set, SR JV Drum Expansion card & Bass/Drums card.

The only things that aren't midi are most of the heavy electric guitars and strummed acoustics (played by a Brooklyn NY guitar wiz).

I'm on a G5/002r system clocked by an Apogee Mini Me and using an RME ADI-8. I bypass the 002r's converters at all times.

This is my first atempt, at age 42, to launch a professional music career. I'll be shopping the whole thing once my 12 tunes are complete.

I currently help local NYC artists put their CDs together.

Anything I can pick up from the savvy bunch here is welcome.

So you need to put a band together? It sounds like a band, a knock-out band with great colorful clothes and stuff. Don't hold back, give them the whole party package! With or without poppers. I'm not joking. Best of luck.
