Rock Mix Jimmy Eat World/Angels and Airwaves

This is something i was jamming out and just built it up as i tracked. It turned out okay i think. Added an Angels and Airwaves Rip off at the end. ha. Only took a few takes.

I'm on a digi002 rack
Everything went through a Focusrite Octopre.

Samples mixed in on the kick, snare, toms.
Pretty bad mics.

Guitars- 57

Vocals are in the process.

Only been in to this for almsot a year, so please let me know what you think!

decent

good recording, but there were tempo issues, but that can be fixed... May I suggest bringing your rythm guitar up a little more by doubling it in your DAW then panning one left about 20 clicks and the other right about twenty clicks.. The Lead Guitar can stay the way it is, but may have to be raised a bit...
BASS needs to stay center and drums need to be raised a bit give them more punch... Then this will be an awesome recording... of course once vocals are added... But remember dont make everything so loud in the mix that you can get those vocals to sit right....
Peace...

thanks for the feedback man.

i havent ever really played to a click, so this was a first.
the bass is center, but i think the drums do need to come up. maybe the snare the most.

Drums sound too sampley to me. Id say let the real drums through some more, perhaps some more room sound. Guitars sound great, lets hope the singer is top notch. =)

thanks for the response. yeah thats thing. the kit used is horrible. what i like to call a "bong" snare, cause thats what it sounds like. The real drums are in there, just low cause of the quality of them. The room is dead as well. I need to get some sheets of plywood and some auralex stuff to give it some life. thanks alot!

Sounds really good to me. Better than most of the stuff in that genre that I hear all of the time. It needs a very commercial singer though because of how pristine the track itself is.

Sounds good for what it is. Hard to judge the final mix without vocals, but so far I think it'll be just fine, cept for some drum hits here and there, but a good drummer could doctor that up.

Things could be a little more clear, etc, but that's not gonna happen unless you hire a pro mixer, no offense.

You're doing f'n awesome though Can't wait to hear it with vocals. This song has a lot of potential. I think you need to write a bunch of songs like this and get a band together. Bet good things would happen for you.

Good stuff man. I checked out your myspace. I like your style, nice vocals too. Did you record the song on myspace ? I wouldn't mind knowing what amps your using either?

Thanks dude. No, the song on the myspace wasnt recorded by me. We went in with producer James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Dashboard Confessional, New Found Glory). It was mixed by him and another guy on a pretty big SSL board.

My amp is a Hughes & Kettner Duotone, and i used a Les Paul 60 Classic on my mix, but a Les Paul Custom on my band's recording. I do mostly rhythm in my band cause i do lead vocals, so the Les gives me a nice fat sound.

dude the mp3 u posted is awesome! it definetly needs some clearing up..
some fine adjustment but there is very much potential... guitar sound is nice but would have been alot rounder and fatter with a condenser in the room .. but nice work man..
maybe you should get into this stuff a little more??
all the best!

This song sounds really good

It sounded so good to me I had to listen to it a couple more times. I'm looking into getting my room going with a 002 or 003 soon so this post gives me hope!

Was this a modded BLA 002 by any chance?
