New Dutch band

This song was part of a short (few hours) recording session for a new Dutch band, to see whether the 'click' was there between our studio and them. Of course I couldn't help my self and I had to mix it a bit (wasn't really the goal). What you're hearing is a 4 piece band, vocals are the guide vox (no time/incentive to overdub them), no production whatsoever yet. I'm curious how you guys feel about the sound of this track. Never mind the words, it's in Dutch

If you want to know any particulars of the recording/mixing chain, just ask, I think I can pretty much recall everything

Really like the song! typical dutch production, i hope you see this as a compliment! Only point of notice would be that this track should have a play of 3,5 - 4 minutes, because 6 minutes is imo too long for this song. So if i were you i'd do some cutting/pasting.

I really like the acoustic guitar! how did you record/mix that?

Thanks man! Could you elaborate on the Dutch production bit, not sure what you mean? Indeed I already told them it was too long, but in the end it's their call... Final album recordings will not take place until June so they still have time to polish

Ac. guitar was a Rode NTK into D&R micpre (I have an D&R Triton desk, pre's are very nice), probably some 12/14k added using UAD Pultec. Electric guitar was a POD mono into Chandler Germanium on nuke. Doubled it in DAW (Nuendo), main sound you're hearing has some Renn. EQ and lot of UAD 1176, the secondary (panned right) has amp simulation thrown on for a more distorted/fizzy tone.

Vocals are SM58

Praise the Lord! I agree with Roger about the lenght of the song. To bad there is no keyboard player with the band.. the song really asks for a nice warm Hammond!

Very nice! Like the DR pre's. I guess you've recorded in a pretty "live" room?

Wat i meant with the dutch production is the way the song starts, with the acoustic and vocals, especially the vocal line and choice of words is typical in the style of the poema's, dijk, vandikhout imo. Also the electric part in the end is imo typical for such productions.
