Recorded in my garage

Hi!

I bought a new soundcard earlier this week, Saffire PRO 26 i/o. And this is the first song produced with it.

For setup i used "Power Beat" drums with a cracked hihat, nice cymbals, and a tuned drumset (as far as it can be...). It's a budgetset... But it works!

I used sm57 for snare and toms, Beta 52A on kickdrum and a MXL 2006 for ambience. Two neumans condensatormicks for overhead.. (My MXL 6003s hasn't arrived yet, but sometime during next week!)

For guitar we used fender amps and fender guitars, micked with the MXL 2006.

Bass was recorded with an AMPEG BR2, 4*12" and 17" speakers. The Beta52A on the 17" and a sm57 on one of the 12".... Warvick bass.

Singing also recorded with the MXL 2006.

Please come with thoughts around the setup, and ofcourse comment the outcome!

When talking about the mix I've notcied that the drums overhead could be reduced by -5db or someting... because the hihat and ride-bell is bit to much for me... what do you think?

hello,
what do you like/dislike about the saffire pro?
i'm thinking about getting one..
i think the song/recording is really nice, the guitar in the refrain is only on the right side ,don't like that, and the drums sound a little bit far

Jag får such a Rod Stewart vibes when I hear this but instead of Rod we have a modern voice with some color and experience. Sounds pretty good! - A mixture of Counting Crows meets and another band from the UK - forgot the name. I like the drum sound minus the high end on the hihat (probably the mp3) - would be nice with some more boom/room on the kick though. Good work!
