recorded a friends band with my MBox2 that I recently bought. I love Pro Tools, even though I'm quite new to it, its great for tracking! check it out ![]() http://www.getyoursnackon.com/thor_s...al_192kbps.mp3 please be critical on the mixdown of things and what not, and be specific on if instruments are too loud or too soft and what not. thanks ! |

Doesnt sound to bad to me, dont really care for the guitar sound though, cant really put my finger on it but for a metalcore sound it doesnt seem heavy enough to me. Im no guitarist so dont take that too hard.

How did you do the drums? The kick drum is too boomy. Add a little more click to it. tighten up the guitars a little more. Drum some mid out of it to do that. Overall mix sounds super compressed. Lighten up on that a little. Musically, maybe the guitarist could try to clean up his solo... Other than that the mix sounds really good. You can hear everything, and its pretty clean. Good job of using that mbox for all it is worth. |

the drums were seperated, used a technique the producer Machine used with Lamb of God and 18 Visions, where he would have the drummer play cymbals seperate from snare and toms. the cymbals were recorded with an MXL v69, and the snares and toms and kick with Shure mics into the MBox. just overlayed samples from the fxpansion BFD to ensure constant volume throughout the mix. but anyway, basically, lower 160hz on the kick, add some brightness to the kick - then, take out mid of the guitar and up the range of presence so it has more of an edge (or perhaps just redo the amp/stack settings) and loosen up on the hyper compression feel I think the song is a bit repetitious on the whole, and the guitar is a bit messy (I didn't use a gate or really anything besides compression and some EQ), but then again thats more left to the musician then the producer/engineer (most of the time). anything else? thumbsup |
