Test Recording Of Jazz Trio

Hi, this is the first time I have posted my work.

I am a musician who records my own group, not really an aspiring mercenary engineer. We are evaluating whether our room, our piano, and my recording skills can cut it to make a decent sounding CD, or if we'd be wasting time.

This session was a test of how good we can make it sound. I'd like to know what jumps out at you as good or bad, and/or how it could sound better. I have my own opinion, but I don't want to color your objective view.

I think in general it sounds pretty good. The drums need to come down a bit. Remember its JAzz it doesnt all have to be there at all times. OH sound good meaning room sounds pretty good. piano sounds great. maybe close mike this one? bass sounds good and fat.thumbsup

The drums were mic'd with a M/S pair in front. I'm going to switch to a spaced pair from behind so I can get in a little tighter. I don't want to close mic each drum, but I will switch to an OH set-up that gets as close as possible. However, I may put a mic on the bass drum.

The piano is a crappy little upright, BTW. Strange that is sounds as good as it does.
