A collaboration between songwriters and a Canadian author - The Birth House

Hello fellow Gearslutz!

I thought I'd share a project that I've been working on for the past year that might interest some of you. I am a songwriter and performer, and I have been enjoying learning about recording over the past 3 years or so and continuing to improve.

About a year ago, I read "The Birth House" by Ami McKay, and it was not only extremely well written and enjoyable, but inspired me (and my S.O.) to write an album of original music inspired by the story and the landscape, which happens to be a small village about an hour outside of Halifax, Canada. To make a long story short, we recorded 13 songs in total (I recorded the instrumentals and we went to a studio to record the vocals and have it mixed), and the album is ready to be mastered, which we will be doing at Joao Carvalho Mastering in Toronto in the next few weeks. It's all very exciting!

To make a long story short, we brought a demo of the album to Ami McKay during a visit to the east coast this past summer, and she was thrilled with the songs and we are starting to figure out the next steps of our collaboration. To read more about the visit, check out: http://www.amimckay.com

Enjoy the music!
