so im getting really bored of having nothing to work on, and i have pretty much fine tuned every one of my projects.....so i went wayyy back. a few years ago, my band recorded a few songs. my friend had the PT files, so i grabbed them from him. this was done on a 002. no outboard gear at all. i didnt record the drums, but everything else, i had control over. i want to get the boys back togeather and rerec so i threw the session up in PT, played with it for a few hours, and got this Sonny Bono was a Terrible Skier gotta love that name |

Cool guitar sound - You need to sort out the low end - the kick isn't working and the toms feel weak - it's a mess down there. As the mix is now - the kick make the song feel disjoint and stressful. I can't sort it out. I don't understand the song - I would aim for a acoustic not so separated drum sound that feel solid. Good work anyway - keep on tweaking.

the drums have that sound simply because they were recorded like shit. the mics were from that old shure drum pack, and the actual micing was terrible. not to mention the heads on the toms were over a year old, worn out and SEVERLY untuned. honestly, this is the best sound i could get from the drums. this is where i spent the bulk of my time. i might post the actual drum tracks, unequed/compressed/verbed/etc. just to give you a good idea of the garbage i had to work with. haha thanks though. |
