Thread Starter | evolution of a mix
Here is a clip containing 4 mixes of a small section of a song done at different points in time from when the song was written 5 years ago until now. The various mixes are in no particular order in the clip, but I think you will be able to determine the order of creation. Am I getting it almost to where it really wants to be? I hear a few things that I still want to adjust in the latest version, but I thought I'd make sure nobody here thought I still had any major problems to fix first, before I went back and messed with the song. I tried to adjust the mixes to about the same rms for better comparison. I think this experiment illustrates, among other things, that rms alone does not directly correlate to perceived volume. Warning: Some of the mixes(but hopefully not all) might sound pretty bad and give some low end systems a hard time. Thanks. Last edited by eyesore; 10th July 2006 at 09:54 AM.. I like the 2nd one best, and not because it's louder, but because I like the way everything sits in the mix. If the top end wasen't so brittle it would sound great IMO. I like the kick in that one, and the way it "fills" out the mix.
